What is Zinc Die Casting

Zinc die casting is a high-pressure mass-production metal forming process mainly carried out on hot-chamber die casting machines. Low-melting-point Zamak zinc alloys are melted and hydraulically injected into precision-hardened steel dies to manufacture near-net-shape parts with outstanding dimensional precision and elaborate geometric features.

Zinc alloys boast better fluidity, mold filling performance and dimensional stability than aluminum and magnesium alloys, supporting the production of ultra-thin walls, fine embossments and complex multi-cavity parts with tight tolerances. The smooth as-cast surface reduces extra finishing work, and finished zinc castings are compatible with electroplating, nickel-chrome plating, powder coating, passivation and polishing.
